… This game plays best using a Xinput compatible analog controller (Xbox, PS4, etc), however, digital devices can be used too, such as a D-pad or keyboard (analog is definitely the way to go, though!). The controls are also re-mappable. It’s a bit strange to look at this as a “spiritual successor” when it sort of leans a bit more toward the original Star Fox game. we suppose you could say it could even be called a “spiritual predecessor.” It feels like it would exist somewhere between Star Fox and Star Fox 64. It looks like an improvement over the classic ahead-of-its-time SNES game but doesn’t achieve the visual complexity of the Nintendo 64 title. Your abilities and the depth of gameplay are also more in line with the first Star Fox game, though you have the advantage of a framerate that doesn’t make your eyes bleed.
